Aquaduct was formed from Bosch Irrigation in 2010 in order to extrude large bore PE pipe on site for the burgeoing large scale irrigation scheme industry.
Using the Aquaduct pipe, Bosch designed and completed installation of 84 kilometres of pipe line for the Valetta Irrigation Scheme, a company of 45 farmers keen to optimise water efficiency and minimise loss, in 2014. The project was completed on time and on budget, in one irrigation season.
The pipe was produced on site in 100 metre lengths by Aquaduct NZ Ltd, to reduce the welding and transport cost componants of the installation.
Much of the installation was aided by Bosch Irrigation’s 65 ton trencher with a specially designed screening belt to sort the cobblestones of the Canterbury Plains from fines for effective and efficient pipe bedding and back filling. This type of design initiative keeps Aquaduct/ Bosch at the cutting edge of the industry.
Once the pipe has been laid along the trench route the lengths are welded together using the latest highinterface pressure welding technique which ensures a secure weld and faster welding times in comparison to the more traditional welding methods.
Bosch had more than a dozen welding machines of differing types and sizes, including a self-propelled insulated welding shed capable of welding in any weather.
Aquaduct/Bosch has well established credentials for innovation and thinking outside the square.
After the 2015 sale to Steel & Tube, the 2019 re-entry of Aquaduct 2020 into HDPE pipe production has seen us hone our focus and specialisation into on-site pipe production.
The Aquaduct team is committed and fully engaged, with a passion for seeing great things happen in water infrastructure by contributing design and premium quality economical pipe where the whole of life value is the primary consideration.
